Dreams of bunnies, carrots, and chocolate eggs filled my little one’s head as she slept last night. Upon waking this morning, she rushed to the kitchen table to see if the Easter bunny had eaten his carrots and cookies, and a little rain failed to put a damper on her backyard egg hunt. In record time, she had an Easter basket filled with opened eggs and a belly full of snacks.
This year, my little person understood the traditions of Easter. While last year she sort of aimlessly wandered around with her basket as we guided her from egg to egg, this year she happily found them all on her own. Rather than sitting down and eating each egg’s secret treasure as she found them, this year she only checked what was inside before hunting the next one. Most importantly, when she’s asked why we celebrate Easter, she throws her sweet hands up towards the sky and cries, “Because Jesus ROSE!!!”
Dear Jesus, we are so humbled by the ultimate sacrifice that you made on the Cross to save our lives. Thank you for conquering sin and death, so that we may have eternal life. We praise you, that you ROSE in heavenly glory, leaving behind an empty tomb. Thank you for the family, friends, and teachers who model your love and forgiveness to my sweet girl, everyday. You have enveloped us in support and kindness, blessings for which I am truly grateful. In your loving name we pray, amen.
“He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.” Luke 24:6-7
