Happy Birthday My Little Love

IMG_0802Three years ago today, I was introduced to the most fascinating person I have ever known.  My soulful and witty firecracker entered this world ready to dive head first into life, and I am happy beyond measure to have the privilege of guiding her along her journey.  Yet, while any new milestone in a child’s life is exciting, it’s also bittersweet as you realize they are growing up.

These days, my baby girl reaches for my outstretched hands less and less, preferring to IMG_0886figure things out on her own.  I love that she doesn’t give up when something challenges her, and the sweet innocence of her elation when she solves a problem is heavenly.

Of course after two days of cake, ice cream, presents, pedicures and oh so much love, my precious angel morphed into a screaming banshee. IMG_0922

Thankfully, she is sleeping off her birthday now and hopefully I will soon be as well.  Tomorrow marks the beginning of a new year for us, and regardless of the hiccups and joys it may bring, it is certain to be filled with love.  Happy birthday to my sweet girl.

A Prayer for my daughter:

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for blessing me with the precious gift of motherhood three years ago.  I had no idea how being her mother would change my life for the better, or how exhausting and difficult it would be.  There is no joy like it and I am so grateful for her. Please watch over her and protect her, guarding her every step.  I know that she will stumble and fall, and I pray that your grace and wisdom will see her through.  I am truly humbled to be her mother.  Thank you. Amen.
