Three years ago today, I was introduced to the most fascinating person I have ever known. My soulful and witty firecracker entered this world ready to dive head first into life, and I am happy beyond measure to have the privilege of guiding her along her journey. Yet, while any new milestone in a child’s life is exciting, it’s also bittersweet as you realize they are growing up.
These days, my baby girl reaches for my outstretched hands less and less, preferring to figure things out on her own. I love that she doesn’t give up when something challenges her, and the sweet innocence of her elation when she solves a problem is heavenly.
Thankfully, she is sleeping off her birthday now and hopefully I will soon be as well. Tomorrow marks the beginning of a new year for us, and regardless of the hiccups and joys it may bring, it is certain to be filled with love. Happy birthday to my sweet girl.
A Prayer for my daughter:
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for blessing me with the precious gift of motherhood three years ago. I had no idea how being her mother would change my life for the better, or how exhausting and difficult it would be. There is no joy like it and I am so grateful for her. Please watch over her and protect her, guarding her every step. I know that she will stumble and fall, and I pray that your grace and wisdom will see her through. I am truly humbled to be her mother. Thank you. Amen.
